Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

No city occupation tax on state jobs

The law says the State of Colorado is not a taxable occupation or business place for municipal occupational privilege taxes. Cities cannot apply that local occupation tax to state workplaces. If you are a state employee, you do not owe a city occupation tax tied to your state job.

Local wage rules don’t cover state workers

The law excludes the State of Colorado from the definition of an employer under local minimum wage laws. Local city or county wage ordinances do not apply to state agencies. If you work for the State of Colorado, local wage rules for covered employers no longer set your pay or workplace obligations.
