Insurers repay costs after claimants win

Beginning October 1, 2025, insurers must repay Connecticut’s Insurance Department for hearing costs when claimants win auto damage arbitration. This covers disputes over vehicle damage and property damage liability claims. Repayment is not required if the claimant rejected the insurer’s prearbitration settlement offer worth at least the final award. The money goes to the department, not the claimant, and the law sets no repayment amount.
