3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.
Beginning October 1, 2025, state and quasi-public agencies must report their progress fixing violations of state laws or regulations found in audits. Reports go to the auditors, Governor, and General Assembly within six months after the audit report is issued. This requirement does not apply when the audit report contains only minor or technical recommendations. The legislature’s government oversight committee can ask auditors to check an agency’s report. Auditors must respond to that request within 60 days.
Beginning October 1, 2025, Connecticut auditors can audit covered state bodies every two years when that is most economical and efficient. They can audit more often when needed; bodies covered by chapter 111 audit or reporting rules are excluded. Coverage includes state offices, agencies, courts, state-supported institutions, and other covered public bodies. The legislature’s government oversight committee can also request focused reviews of specific programs or entities. Committee chairs, ranking members, and auditors must agree on goals, scope, methods, and timing. Auditors must respond within 60 days and, if accepting, suggest a scope and schedule; reviews depend on available funding.
Beginning October 1, 2025, private contractors must provide relevant information they hold or control when Connecticut state auditors demand it. This applies when the contractor has a contract with the state department, commission, board, or court being audited. Auditors set the format. Contractors must provide the information at no cost to the auditors or the audited state body.
