Continued psychedelic therapy with limits for patients
Beginning July 1, 2026, Connecticut’s mental health department must establish a psychedelic therapy pilot within available funding. A Connecticut medical school administers MDMA-assisted or psilocybin-assisted therapy through research approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Patients must be Connecticut residents age 18 or older who are veterans, retired first responders, or direct care health workers. They must also meet clinical rules set by the medical school’s institutional review board. The law removes the January 1, 2023 start deadline and automatic closure when the Drug Enforcement Administration approves medical use of both drugs.
