Beginning October 1, 2026, more Connecticut municipal employees can serve on finance boards in the towns where they live. Employees qualify if their total municipal employment stipend was less than $10,000 during the previous 12 months. Existing exceptions for service allowed by a municipal charter or home rule ordinance remain. Employees can also still serve through membership on the town’s legislative body. Employees cannot serve on a body that directly supervises them.
