Beginning July 1, 2025, Connecticut expands interest help on Connecticut Higher Education Supplemental Loan Authority loans. Eligible workers include teachers, paraeducators, school counselors, and workers in designated high-priority jobs. They must work for local or regional school boards or technical education and career schools in alliance districts. High-priority jobs must support residents’ health, welfare, or education and face high demand and actual or projected shortages affecting services. Borrowers must keep meeting employment requirements throughout the loan term to keep the interest subsidy. The Authority and Department of Education set eligibility rules, subsidy amounts, and loan principal limits. Help depends on available funding, with a shared $7 million authorization cap for the alliance-district and high-priority occupation programs.
