New limits on public adjuster fees

Beginning October 1, 2025, Connecticut limits public adjuster fees. For a structure loss covered by fire insurance, an insurer’s timely written offer to pay full policy limits bans all public adjuster fees. The insurer must make that offer within 30 days after the loss. Otherwise, fees must be based only on settlement money the insurer actually pays. The adjuster can collect those fees only after the insurer pays that money.
