2 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 1 costs, 1 mixed.
Beginning October 1, 2025, employers have 40 days, down from 60, after receiving a quarterly unemployment charge statement to protest. Written protests must explain why charges resulted from fraud or error. The statement serves as notice that the listed benefits were properly payable. Employers cannot reopen eligibility issues previously brought to their attention if they missed an appeal deadline or finally lost the issue.
Effective upon passage, doctors, physician assistants, and advanced practice registered nurses must report suspected work-related diseases within 48 hours. Reports to Connecticut’s Labor Department must include patient identity, contact details, occupation, employer details, disease, and other required information. The Labor Commissioner can impose a civil penalty up to $10 for a late or missed report. The commissioner can investigate, recommend prevention without requiring employer action, and share reports with Public Health for disease tracking, prevention, or control. Reports and related investigation information cannot be used as evidence in civil cases or workers’ compensation claims.
