The law updates the automatic sealing schedule for D.C. nonconviction records. Records dated on or before September 30, 2027 are covered. Records dated October 1, 2027 must be sealed by October 1, 2027.

Start date and 90 day emergency window

The law applies starting March 1, 2025. As an emergency act, it takes effect when approved by the Mayor or after a Council override. It remains in effect for no more than 90 days.
