Anacostia business district expansion adds taxes

The law lets the Mayor approve a petition from the Anacostia Business Improvement District to add District-owned land that touches its current area. The expansion only takes effect when the D.C. Council passes an approving act and it becomes effective. If the approved expansion area includes any taxable property, those owners must pay new BID taxes. The first bills for that area go out in the next regular billing cycle.
