Landlords get more time to register

Landlords now have 180 days to file rental housing registration after the District completes the public rent control housing database. The previous deadline was 90 days. Related 90-day timelines also move to 180 days, and a 91-day reference becomes 181 days. This emergency law is in effect and lasts up to 90 days.

Landlords of exempt units must report rents

Owners of units exempt from rent stabilization must report rent history when they register. For each unit, they must list the current monthly rent and the rent charged in each of the two prior calendar years. This is only required at registration; no ongoing or annual filings are required. This emergency law is in effect and lasts up to 90 days.
