Free special education for detained adults in DC

The DC Department of Corrections must provide free special education that meets IDEA and District law. This applies during the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years. You must be 18 or older, have a disability, be in DOC custody, and be in a secure facility. Services continue until you reach the end of your FAPE eligibility under IDEA and District law. This requirement ends after the 2025-2026 school year.
