Members of the Secret Service (Uniformed or Division) and the U.S. Park Police who reach age 60 can be retired at the department head’s discretion. If retired, they receive a retirement annuity using the law’s standard formula for this group. This applies to members covered by the Policemen and Firemen’s Retirement and Disability Act. This emergency law takes effect after mayoral approval and lasts up to 90 days.
