Entertainment licenses face neighborhood review

Beginning October 1, 2025, the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection must give the local neighborhood commission 30 days’ notice before approving or renewing entertainment licenses. This covers theaters, cinemas, skating rinks, dance halls, exhibitions, lectures, and similar venues. The notice must be by first-class mail or email, name the applicant, and list the location. The licensing department must give great weight to the commission’s recommendation when deciding. The act expires 225 days after it takes effect.

New 4-year business license and refunds

Beginning October 1, 2025, you can choose a 4-year basic business license. The fee for a 4-year license is $198. Licenses can also be issued for 6 months or 2 years. The Mayor may refund license fees or taxes that were paid or collected in error under this chapter; refunds are discretionary, not automatic. The act expires 225 days after it takes effect.
