Mayor must set language access rules

The law requires the Mayor to issue rules to carry out the Language Access Act of 2004. The Mayor must use the District’s Administrative Procedure Act process. This helps residents with limited English get city services in their language. The act applies as of June 19, 2004. It is effective upon the Mayor’s approval or a Council override and lasts no longer than 90 days.
