Beginning October 18, 2025, appointments for the Waterways Office and its Commission follow section 2(f) of the Confirmation Act of 1978. The law updates the code citation and adds the Office to the Confirmation Act list. These changes apply through May 31, 2026.
Beginning October 18, 2025, the Commission gets 2 years to develop the Advisory Plan, not 1 year. Voting members adopt the plan after the public comment period, within 60 days of finishing any revisions. They then send it to the Office of District Waterways Management to publish. The law removes the old phrase that notice had to be at least 60 days before adoption. If the Commission finds an update is needed, it must update at least every 3 years using the same steps. These rules apply through May 31, 2026.
Beginning October 18, 2025, the Department of Parks and Recreation serves as a non-voting, ex officio member of the District Waterways Advisory Commission. The Commission must meet at least once every 2 months, instead of monthly. These changes apply through May 31, 2026.
This temporary law applies starting October 18, 2025. It expires 225 days after it takes effect, on May 31, 2026.
