Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 2 mixed.

Probate notices can use newspapers

People and agencies who must publish probate notices in D.C. can use a newspaper of general circulation or a legal periodical. You no longer have to use only a legal periodical. This starts when the law takes effect.

Criminal justice deadlines extended

The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council must issue its first prearrest diversion recommendations by June 2025. A second set is due by July 31, 2026. These dates replace earlier moving deadlines tied to another law.

Temporary law start and end dates

This law takes effect after the Mayor approves it and after a 60-day congressional review. It expires 225 days after it takes effect. These rules control when the other changes are in force.
