More contact for parents of DC youth in custody

If your child is in the District’s Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS) custody, the agency must keep you informed. After the scheduled predisposition meeting, DYRS must try to contact you at least every 6 months about the child’s individualized rehabilitation plan. DYRS must try to contact you within 24 hours if your child is moved to a facility not listed in the plan. DYRS must also try to contact you within 24 hours if your child gets emergency medical treatment for an incident, injury, or severe illness. DYRS must keep an electronic log of all contact efforts and give you a copy on request, and provide it to the D.C. Council oversight chair when requested.
