District approves $39M cleaning contract

The Council approves a multiyear contract with Aramark to clean the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and the Carnegie Library’s exterior grounds. The government authorizes payment for goods and services already received and to be received, up to $39,241,788.60. The approval applies despite certain Procurement Practices Reform Act requirements, under the Council’s Home Rule Act authority. This emergency act lasts no longer than 90 days after the Mayor’s approval or a Council veto override.
