The law lets required probate and estate notices be printed in a legal journal or in a District newspaper of general circulation. Before, only a legal periodical qualified. This gives filers more options and may cut cost or time.
The law takes effect after the Mayor approves it. If the Mayor vetoes, it takes effect when the Council overrides the veto. It stays in force for no more than 90 days under emergency rules.
