Exempt rentals: report rent history at registration

Owners of rental units that are exempt from rent stabilization must give more details when they register. For each unit, they must list the current monthly rent and the rent charged in each of the two prior calendar years. They must also list the unit’s utilities, services and facilities, and appliances. This reporting happens only at registration. There is no ongoing or annual filing for this data.

Emergency law effective for 90 days

The law takes effect when the Mayor approves it. If vetoed, it takes effect when the Council overrides the veto. As an emergency act, it stays in force for no more than 90 days.
