District of Columbia Public Service Commissioners can keep serving for up to 270 days after their appointed terms end. This temporary rule overrides conflicting limits in existing law. It takes effect after mayoral approval or a veto override and a 30-day congressional review period. The rule expires 225 days after taking effect.
