The law makes the DC Department of Corrections responsible for a free appropriate public education (FAPE) in its adult facilities during the 2024-2025 school year. You qualify if you are age 18 through the end of your IDEA eligibility. You are in a DC adult DOC facility and were previously identified as a student with a disability or had an IEP. DOC can keep its contract with Maya Angelou Public Charter Schools to provide these services for the rest of the 2024-2025 school year. This keeps special education and related services going without interruption.
