Long Bridge heritage tree removal with fee

The law requires the Mayor to issue a permit to remove a Heritage Tree that abuts or is within the Long Bridge Project site when strict tests are met. The applicant must show the tree cannot be protected in place, and that moving it would cost more than $1,000,000 or would unreasonably burden the public (for example, by closing roads or sidewalks). To remove the tree, the applicant pays $1,200 for each inch of the tree’s circumference. This emergency law takes effect immediately.
