Health workers keep leave, not cash payouts

Eligible Georgia county health board workers keep earned vacation and sick leave when moving to the Department of Public Health. They must belong to the retirement system under Chapter 2 of Title 47 and move without a break in service. They also keep seniority used to set how quickly they earn leave. The county board cannot pay out earned leave during the move. State employee status applies only to membership in that retirement system. The State Personnel Board can issue, change, or repeal rules to carry out these protections.
