Georgia updates safety rules for commercial drivers

Georgia now uses federal safety rules in effect on January 1, 2025, replacing the January 1, 2024 reference. This covers motor carriers, commercial vehicles, drivers, and the safe transport of hazardous materials under Georgia’s law. The law defines “Department” as Georgia’s Department of Public Safety and “Commissioner” as its commissioner. It also repeals conflicting laws. January 1, 2025, identifies the federal rules used, not the law’s start date.
