Stronger money controls for Georgia agencies

Georgia’s Departments of Human Services and Community Health must keep state and federal funds designated for specific purposes in separate accounts. They cannot mix these funds with other money or use them for another purpose. Both commissioners must review agency operations and accounting each year for savings and efficiency. Human Services also reviews contracts and agreements; Community Health reviews provider agreements and rebate programs and agreements. Reports go to House and Senate budget and health committee chairs by December 31, 2026, and annually afterward. The law sets no required savings amount and does not directly change household benefits or eligibility.
