Peachtree City authority members face revised rules

The mayor and city council appoint five members to the Peachtree City Public Facilities Authority. The mayor and council members can also serve on the authority. Initial terms are staggered: two members serve three years, two serve two years, and one serves one year. Later appointments are for three years, except members serving on the city council have terms matching their council terms. Members remain in office until replacements are appointed and qualified. Appointees must be at least 21, have lived in Peachtree City for at least two years, and have no felony conviction. They begin their duties immediately after appointment and can be reappointed. Members cannot transfer their membership or any interest in their office. Membership gives them no right to, interest in, or benefit from the authority’s assets or property. The act takes effect upon the Governor’s approval or upon becoming law without approval.
