Sandy Springs voters decide on redevelopment powers

The law requires a Sandy Springs referendum on November 3, 2026. Approval by more than half of votes cast immediately activates the city's full powers under Georgia's Redevelopment Powers Law. These include community redevelopment, tax allocation districts, tax allocation bonds, and other allowed financial obligations. The authority also covers future changes to that state law. If voters reject the act or the required election is not held, the act automatically ends on January 1, 2027. Election notices must appear in Fulton County's official newspaper at least 90 days before the vote. Notices must also run once weekly during the two weeks immediately before the election. Sandy Springs pays election costs, and results must be certified to the Secretary of State. The law itself creates no direct household payment, tax change, or benefit.
