New technology fees in Worth County court

The Worth County Magistrate Court clerk can charge up to $10 for each civil action filed. The clerk can also add up to $10 to each fine the court assesses. The chief magistrate sets the amounts. The clerk must keep collections in a separate account used only for court technology needs. Allowed uses include computers, software, equipment purchases and upkeep, and turning court records into digital files for public access. Authority to charge these fees ends July 1, 2036. Any money left stays dedicated to general Worth County technology uses.
