Byron expansion depends on Fort Valley

The law adds a defined Housers Mill Road right-of-way area to Byron’s city limits beginning June 1, 2026. The boundary runs about 5,220 feet north along the road’s western edge to the Georgia Highway 247 connector. It follows the connector’s southern edge east, then returns south along Housers Mill Road’s easternmost edge. Its southern boundary follows the southern line of Land Lot 15 in the 5th Land District. The expansion requires a separate Fort Valley charter law removing the right of way during the 2026 regular session. That law must receive the governor’s approval or become law without it. Otherwise, this act never takes effect and is automatically repealed on June 1, 2026. The act repeals conflicting laws but does not specify household tax or service changes.
