Fort Valley utility commission gains property control

Fort Valley’s utility commission can buy, sell, trade, exchange, rent, lease, and make other utility-property contracts in its own name. It sets transaction terms, including for utility-system property the city owns or has an interest in now or later. All sale money must benefit the utility system, and applicable debts and obligations must be satisfied. Property acquired after July 1, 2019, belongs to the commission, which must manage and operate it. The city must transfer title to qualifying utility property when the commission adopts a resolution requesting it. Existing obligations and agreements remain protected, including rights to secure new or refinanced debt with the property or its revenues. The law specifies no household rate or service change.

Fort Valley removes roadway areas from city

The law removes specified roadway land from Fort Valley’s city limits. This includes the State Route 96 right-of-way east of the point at 32.554019, -83.865025. It also removes any portion of the Houser’s Mill Road right-of-way from city limits. The law does not specify changes to household taxes or services.
