Bartow County replaces surveyor elections with appointments
The law ends elections for Bartow County surveyor and requires the county governing authority to appoint the surveyor. Each appointee serves one year from appointment, and successors also receive one-year terms. Appointees must meet the qualifications in Georgia Code Section 36-7-2(b)(1). Any elected surveyor serving when the law takes effect finishes the current term. The law takes effect upon the Governor’s approval or upon becoming law without that approval.
