Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 1 costs, 1 mixed.

Who can run for commissioner

In Decatur County, a commissioner must be at least 21 and a qualified voter in the county. Each must have lived in their commission district for at least 12 months before taking office. If a commissioner stops living in their district during the term, the seat becomes vacant and is filled under vacancy law.

District voting and runoff rules

Decatur County voters in each district elect their own commissioner. Candidates must pick their district when they qualify to run. To win, a candidate must get the most votes and more than half of all votes for that seat. If no one gets a majority, a runoff is held. Older laws that conflict with these rules do not apply.
