District residency rules for Decatur County commissioners

Decatur County, Georgia, commissioners must be at least 21 and qualified voters in the county. They must have lived in their commission district for at least 12 months before taking office. Their seat becomes vacant if they stop living in that district during their term. Candidates must name the district they seek to represent when filing to run. Only qualified voters living in that district elect its commissioner. A winner must receive both the most votes and a majority; otherwise, the seat requires a runoff election.
