Schley County Probate Court technology fees authorized

The law lets the Schley County Probate Court clerk collect technology fees set by the probate judge. Fees are capped at $5 per civil action filed and $5 added to each fine the court assesses. The money is restricted to court technology costs, including computers, imaging, communications, printing, and digitizing records for public access. The clerk must keep the money in a separate account, subject to audit by an auditor approved by county leaders. Authority to charge these fees ends July 1, 2035. Any money left remains dedicated to general Schley County technology uses.
