New Taylor County probate court technology fees

The Taylor County Probate Court judge can set a technology fee of up to $5 for each civil case filed. The judge can also set a surcharge of up to $5 on each fine the court assesses. The clerk collects the money and keeps it in a separate account for approved court technology costs only. Approved costs include computer purchases and leases, maintenance, and installation of computer hardware. Funds also cover imaging, scanning, fax, communications, projection, and printing equipment and software, plus digitizing court records for public access. Authority to charge these fees ends July 1, 2035. Any money left stays dedicated to general Taylor County technology uses.
