Up to $5 fees on Taylor Probate filings and fines

The Taylor County Probate Court can charge a technology fee. The probate judge sets the amount, up to $5 per civil filing. The court can also add up to $5 to each fine it issues. The clerk keeps the money in a separate account. The money can only pay for court technology, like computers and software, including purchases, leases, maintenance, and installation. It also covers scanners, fax, communications, projection, and printing equipment and software, and digitizing records for public access. The authority to charge these fees ends July 1, 2035. Any leftover money after that stays set aside for Taylor County technology uses.
