Lower school taxes for Early County seniors

Seniors age 70 or older in the Early County School District get a homestead break on school property taxes. Up to $150,000 of your home’s assessed value is exempt for five years. The exemption applies to taxable years that begin on or after January 1, 2022. Voters decide in the 2026 primary whether to remove the December 1, 2028 sunset; if a majority votes yes, the change takes effect January 1, 2027. If voters do not approve, the change does not take effect and the Act is repealed a year after the election date.
