New Banks County probate court technology fees

The Banks County Probate Court can charge up to $5 per civil case filing and $5 extra per fine assessed. The probate judge sets the fee amount. The clerk must keep collections in a separate account, used only for authorized court technology needs. Allowed costs include buying computers, software, and accessories, plus leasing, maintaining, and installing computer hardware. Funds also cover buying, leasing, maintaining, and installing imaging, scanning, fax, communications, projection, and printing equipment and software. They can also pay for services or equipment to turn court records and archives into digital files for public access. Authority to assess the fee ends July 1, 2035. Any money left remains dedicated to general Banks County technology uses.
