Alpharetta chooses winners by majority vote

The law requires candidates for any Alpharetta city office to get more than half the votes to win. If no one gets a majority in the first round, the top two candidates go to a runoff. The runoff winner must receive more than half the votes to be elected. City elections now use a majority standard with a two-person runoff when needed.
