Up to 8% tax on Haralson County stays

Haralson County can charge an excise tax on room and lodging bills, up to 8% of the price. Hotels, motels, inns, lodges, tourist camps or cabins, campgrounds, and similar businesses must collect and pay this tax. A county ordinance adopted January 27, 2025 sets the exact rate and lists the tourism projects. Each year, at least half of the amount above a 5% rate must fund tourism promotion through the county’s designated tourism group or an authorized contractor. The rest of that extra amount must go to tourism product development.
