Butts County replaces surveyor elections with appointments
Butts County voters no longer elect the county surveyor. The county governing authority now appoints the surveyor. The first term lasts one year from appointment, and each successor also serves a one-year term. Appointees must meet the qualifications in Georgia law, O.C.G.A. § 36-7-2(b)(1). The act took effect upon Governor approval or becoming law without approval.
