Crawford County court users face technology fees

Georgia's Crawford County Magistrate Court clerk can charge up to $5 per civil case filing and $5 per fine assessed. The chief magistrate sets the actual amounts. The clerk must keep this money in a separate account for authorized court technology needs only. Allowed uses include buying computers, software, and accessories, plus leasing, maintaining, and installing computer hardware. Money can also cover imaging, scanning, fax, communications, projection, and printing equipment and software, and digitizing records for public access. Fee authority ends July 1, 2035; leftover money remains dedicated to general Crawford County technology uses.
