Thomasville dedicates tax money to tourism
The law sets a spending rule each fiscal year Thomasville collects the covered excise tax. At least 50% of revenue above what a 5% tax rate would collect must promote tourism, conventions, and trade shows. The city's designated tourism marketing organization or another entity authorized by contract must carry out the spending.
