Cobb assistant solicitors get minimum pay

Beginning January 1, 2027, Cobb County State Court assistant solicitors must receive base pay of at least $83,400 a year. This minimum applies unless another law provides otherwise. The solicitor-general sets the exact pay, subject to approval by Cobb County’s governing authority. The county pays it in equal monthly installments from its general funds.

Cobb courts can appoint more solicitors

Beginning July 1, 2026, the Cobb County State Court solicitor-general can appoint more assistant solicitors. The authorized number is two for each judge in Divisions I and II of that court. It also includes one for each full-time Cobb County Magistrate Court magistrate, plus four more. Appointees must be admitted to practice in all Georgia courts and remain in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia. The law does not require every authorized position to be filled.

Cobb solicitor supervisors cannot practice privately

Beginning July 1, 2026, the Cobb County State Court solicitor-general can name assistant solicitors as supervisors. The solicitor-general sets their duties and assignments. These assistants cannot practice law privately while serving as supervisors.
