Conservation-use cap rises to 4,000 acres

The law doubles the cap for conservation-use land from 2,000 to 4,000 acres per single owner. Only bona fide farm or timber land can qualify. You must sign a covenant to keep the land in conservation use. Taxes use current-use, productivity, and sales data, which can lower your bill. If you break the covenant within ten years, the state takes back the tax savings.
