Automated licensing for Georgia healthcare providers

The law takes effect only when Georgia lawmakers specifically approve funding for it in an appropriations act. It requires the Georgia Composite Medical Board to automate licensing for physicians, physician assistants, and anesthesiologist assistants by January 1, 2027. The system must also be fully operational for other providers the board licenses by that date. It must organize, verify, and store licenses for a single statewide verification process. That process requires a facility, licensee, or applicant to enter credential information and consent to statewide authorization. Facilities can accept licensing information as credentialing approval, while facilities and providers can add facility-specific requirements. The system must allow board administrative approval so physicians and these assistants can start work immediately after meeting all licensing requirements. If the required funding is not available by December 31, 2030, the law is automatically repealed.
