New fishing fees and reporting rules

Georgia’s Board of Natural Resources can require recreational and commercial fishers to get an extra endorsement for designated fish. Each designated species or group requires a separate endorsement, in addition to the required fishing license. Reef and migratory fish endorsements cost $10 yearly for Georgia residents and $20 for nonresidents; the department keeps these fees. Endorsement holders must report information required by the Department of Natural Resources. Board rules set which fish require endorsements and when and how holders report.

Updated rules for natural resources offenses

For certain criminal violations, Georgia uses Board of Natural Resources rules in force on January 1, 2026. This replaces the January 1, 2025 reference date. The law changes which version of the rules applies, but the provided text does not list the underlying rule changes.
