Human review for software-driven health coverage denials

Beginning January 1, 2027, Georgia healthcare coverage reviewers cannot base coverage decisions solely on artificial intelligence or other software. They can use these tools for tasks and decisions within review plans that meet Georgia law and insurance commissioner rules. Before these tools issue a decision against a patient, a qualified human reviewer must review the case with a clinical peer. The tools cannot override the clinical peer’s judgment.
