More funding for Georgia land conservation

The law strengthens funding for the Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Trust Fund. The General Assembly must now put 60% (up from 40%) of state sales and use tax from sporting goods stores (NAICS 451110) into the fund each year, using receipts from the most recently completed fiscal year, except where the statute makes an exception. The state may dedicate up to 80% of those taxes for land conservation, based on the prior fiscal year’s receipts. The trust fund is a separate fund in the state treasury. The outdoor stewardship chapter ends on June 30, 2039, and programs under it stop after that date.
