Decatur bonds; big school projects need vote
The City of Decatur Public Facilities Authority can issue revenue bonds to fund or refinance projects. These bonds are paid only from pledged revenues or property, not general city taxes. No bond can run longer than 40 years. For City Schools of Decatur projects that cost $20 million or more, voters must approve the bond issue. The Authority cannot issue those bonds unless a majority votes yes.
